they have asked me sign a letter for someone who lives in another country saying Generic pharmacy that i take full responsibility of them when they come to the US and that way they will give them their visa to come here! but they say that i have to say that i will support them financially if they come here but i think that sounds risky. they told me that i wont actually have to do that but other people told me that i will? does anyone know about this??

DO NOT SIGN IT
please please DO NOT SIGN IT
You will be used and abused and probably bankrupted.
If this new immigrant chooses to not get a job you have to support them – pay their rent, their bills, their food clothes etc.
if they go on welfare, you have to pay it all back.
It’s like you are their mother even though they are old enough to have a job.
You are free to say NO.
DO NOT GIVE Excuses.
if they physically abuse you, go to the police immediately.
This letter is from the federal govt because the family do not have enough money to support this new person and they MUST have a co-sponsor. Basically the family have been told by the federal government to find a co-sponsor or the visa application will be denied. The form came to you because they have told the govt that you will be a co-sponsor – even if they have not told you yet.
If you dont know this family then DO NOT SIGN.
I think they will find anyone who is DUMB ENOUGH to say yes.
DO NOT SIGN IT
Did you sign up for that? You shouldn’t have to take responsibility for someone you didn’t want to. It’s called welfare and welfare is alot of turds in one bill that we would be better without. If you got this from the Government, bring it up to ICE (immigration customs and enforcement.)
You must know the person. Are they going to run out of money and need you to loan them some if need be? If you sign that, it means you have to legally pay for them in any situation. If they get into a fight and are sued, you would have to pay the settlement. You have to make sure they are fed. It is basically like having a child. They can’t work, either. So, I hope you have the cash.
go back home and dont bring your damn family over here we dont want you here we dotn have room for you!
offer a bribe to senator dodd, hes easy
Your right to refuse …..Affidavits of supports can be very onerous
yes you will and you will be totally responsible for this person for years. think about this one, there is way more to it than you are told.
immigration officers expect people outside the US to either have someone who will help them here or have enough money of their own to pay for their stuff while in the US.
However, that letter will not be a guarantee that they will be approved for their visa. But at least will be proof that while visiting the US, they won’t become US responsibility.
you don’t have to say you will take fully responsibility, you can say something like: I will offer my house for them to stay, they will be my guests while visiting.
Of course you will have to support them, that is what the sponsorship is for. You are signing stating you will be responsible for that person so they don’t go on government benefits. You have to prove you have enough income to support them.
