I just found out that I have an older brother who was adopted at birth. All I know about him is his first name, his birthday, his adopted parents’ first names, and the name of the attorney who did the adoption. However, online prescription the attorney died a few years ago, and the agency he was a part of got shut down because of illegal practices. I don’t know how to start looking for my brother. Please help!
I’m not quite sure where he was born, i may be able to find out though. But i do know that the adoption agency was in New York.

One of the largest and most successful registry is http://www.isrr.net/
Also http://registry.adoption.com/ and
http://gsadoptionregistry.com/
If you edit to say where (which state/country) he was born then I and others can give you more specific information on searching. Some States have government run registries.
Search and enter your information on the registries and check them regularly. However, don’t rely entirely on registries because some people just don’t know about them so joining a search group is a good idea – there are search angels who know the ropes and give free help and tips
If all else fails Kinsolving Investigations are wonderful people

OK Lauren, the State of NY has an Adoption Information Registry, including a sibling registry.

The catch is that both the birth AND adoption has to have taken place within the State of NY to be eligible for registration. It sucks and the reason why people have to search by other means due to the prevalance of interstate adoptions. File a sibling registry though and see what you get back

Best of luck
Try on facebook, sweetie, you may be surprised! I know it sounds ridiculous people, but I’ve hear that a lot of families have reunited because of facebook! Good luck and happy reunion.
Google there names or search http://www.intelius.com/... you may have to pay a small fee, but I found my sister that way. If that doesn’t work, look in the phone book, or google the attorny’s name and location, and you may be able to ask them for help. Oh and try myspace.com! It would have been free, but I was spelling my sisters name wrong so I never found her, but she was on there! GOOD LUCK! Let me know if it works!
