Does it look good having an immigration attorney file your case?

I’m a non-resident alien and I’m married to a US citizen, all bona fide, we have a little child together, I came to US ligally but I went out of status. So now I’m trying to get everything fixed up. Everyone says I have a clear cut case, and that I don’t even need a lawyer, BUT DOES IT LOOK GOOD IF AN ATTORNEY FILES MY CASE ANYWAY? Please advise.
no, I know of people with similar cases like you and the attorney either gave them wrong information or lost some of their documents. file them yourself and dont waste money on them.

Its not about how it looks. An attorney can expedite things and make sure you get fair treatment. I would use an attorney. Good luck!
It is not about the process "looking good"
A lawyer should be used if you do not feel comfortable completing the forms and filing them yourself, it also good to know that all I’s or dotted and the T’s are crossed. It also advisable to seek the consultation of a lawyer if there is an underlying problem in your case – overstays, inadmissibility, criminal convictions etc.
Having a lawyer file your case is not something the USCIS or the Consular Officer will see as a positive or a negative, it will not impact their decision one way or the other.
Having an attorney changes nothing.
Since your original arrival was legal you can change status through your marriage to a US citizen. You will be allowed to stay while the paperwork is processed.
An attorney does NOT speed up the process. The only way I’d recommend an attorney is if you have some other legal complication, such as an arrest or conviction.
Have you been working illegally? If so, are you square with the IRS and state government on your income taxes? You can plan on being asked that question.
If you’re really worried and you’ve got a couple thousand dollars you don’t mind giving to an attorney to hold your hand through the process then go ahead and hire one. Just understand, it makes no difference to the people who process the applications.
Cases are never clear cut. There’s usually something random going on that doesn’t seem like a big deal to you, but turns out it’s important to the government. Speaking as an attorney, get one.
In general NO it makes NO difference if you have a lwyer handle your case. You do not get any special treatment, and you do all the work. All the lawyer does is to make sure that your papers are filed by the deadlines (and some lawyers have been known to miss deadlines, thereby their clients end up being deported). You still have to collect the documents, and fill in the forms.
