Bob Wills was the driving force behind Western Swing, a form of country & western that was broader in scope than the parent genre. A master at synthesizing styles, Wills brought jazz, hillbilly, boogie, blues, big-band swing, rhumba, mariachi, jitterbug music and more under his ecumenical umbrella. He has been called “the King of Western Swing” and “the first great amalgamator of American music.” Wills grew up in a part of Texas where diverse cultures and forms of music overlapped. His …

I’ve been to the Bob Will’s festival in Turkey Texas, it was AWESOME!
great tribute to the king of western swing! thanks for sharing. i just love the people, places, and history this video reflects
hell ya im from tulsa the cains kicks *** i would take it any day over the bok
I like Bob Wills, the fiddle tunes is a lot like Celtic/Newfoundland music. I also like his country stuff. San Antone Rose and Faded Love are classics. If you like to hear a bit of Nfld. music, just type in Newfoundland music on youtube, there’s tons of it there.
Great Show!!! Thank you for this video.
We claim him too; Tulsa’s Cain’s Ballroom
bob wills is the real king
The closest I got to playing with Bob Wills was with a couple of his alums – Gene Crownover and Autry Rutledge in Tulsa.
Bob Wills is the King. I am 39 and love his music. Native Texan and proud to have him as our own.
Great post. I dated a girl from Bentonville, Arkansas and her father was a friend of Leon’s and Smokey Dacus was the uncle of one of her friends. I had the opportunity to meet both of them, throw a few back and eat some peaches fresh off a tree in the back yard. It is something I will always treasure. What a man, what a band. Like Waylon said, “To hear the Texas Playboys and Tommy Duncan sing makes me proud to be from Texas, where Bob Wills is still the King.” Amen to that.
I think you have him confused with someone else.:)

I love that song !!
Bob Wills Is Still The King.
turkey, texas still celebrates bob wills day
Is there anywhere that still celebrates Bob Wills???? So special to my Dad that I would do anything to keep a piece of him in my life!
At least “Faded Love” had a few bars of it played at the beginning of this video. I love the music and the lyrics of “Faded Love” – next to “San Antonio Rose” by Bob and the band it’s my favorite. For me, this song is one that sounds good no matter who sings it – just like “San Antonio Rose”. Music like this is everlasting and when there’s a pedal steel guitar added to the fiddles it can’t beat. This little bio with testimonies by Bob Wills’ fans is really special
Thanks for posting. -Paula
A beautifully produced piece. Excellent work. We fly from UK to Turkey Texas each year to honour the master and enjoy his music being played as fresh as ever. Long live the music Bob Wills.
Excellent. Thank you. Great ol music.
