Some States have sibling registries. If you edit your question to say which State, then people can answer the question more appropriately.
The USA is the only Country in the developed world that seals away adoption records. It’s an outdated practise left over from the depression era and unfortunately some people are fighting for it to stay that way.
I hope Adopted citizens of the USA are freed from their second class status this century and their abrogated rights are restored to equal those of non-adopted citizens.
It depends on the type of adoption and the state. If it was a government adoption (through a local Dept. of Family Services for example) it will be easier. You should contact the local or state agency responsible for maintaining the records. You will need to file a form asking to see your adoption file and they will check to see if your birth parents also signed the same form giving permission for you to see those records when you come of age (18 or 21 depending on the jurisdiction).
If it was a private or international adoption, you will probably have a lot more problems finding out. In that case I would recommend an attorney specializing in family law.
If it was a government adoption and you were a foster child, another avenue you have is to demand to see your foster care file. They cannot (depending on the jurisdicition) deny you that, and you may find information in that file about your birth parents/family.
Good luck!
