Thank you very much for your kind and inspiring words.
I was adopted and have adopted. My heart breaks for you in your experience. The loss you feel can only be redeemed through the understanding that the creator of the universe understands adopted. He sent his only son into the world as one who needed to be adopted. Then his son in turn adopted us. The great thing is that adoption reminds us how lost we really are and that the creator of the universe is actively seeking us out. My prayer is that he finds you and that you see him when he does.
We may be able to help you.
Speaking as an adopted person. I spent the first 10 years of my life mourning the loss of my natural mother. I spent the next 10 years utterly confused with regards to my own identity. The next 10 numbing my senses. And the last 10 years gradually getting my life back together again. Believe me it may be great for the adopted parents, it might even be ok for the natural mother. But it can be a hell for the adopted child.
I think adoption is awesome, and I would absolutely LOVE to adopt, by how? It seems to so expensive, but it shouldn’t be, right? There are so many kids who need to be adopted, yet it seems to be such a difficult task. Why, why, why?
If there’s anyway that you could help me adopt, could you, please help me? I love, love, love kids, and everybody knows this. I don’t even care of what color, race, ethnicity, or orientation the child is, I just want to to be a mother! (ranoutofroom)

So you keep bringing up your education. why? am i to assume that you are too smart to be a Christian because you went to college? an atheist! come on, at least be an agnostic. you are DEFINATELY not smart enough to be an atheist!!! i mean even if you knew 1/2 of all the information in all of the universe (which we don’t even come close!), God could exist in the other half that you don’t know. So at least say you’re an agnostic! Psalm 14:1

Well there are a lot of reasons, one of which is not to be a presumptuous, pompous ***. So everyone who disagrees with you must need to do a bit more reading, huh? And I’m an atheist. I studied the history, dogma, and praxis of religions as natural human phenomena.

Why shouldn’t I presume to be the schoolmaster? is it wrong? Do you say that to everyone who suggest a book to you? So are you religous? What religion?
Been there done that, at least with the latter. You shouldn’t presume to be the schoolmaster, doling out reading lists. I majored in religious studies in college so I’m sure I’m well read in that area. Of course, this is youtube, so assumptions about people are too common.
ironic! Some one who is too humble to claim to know anything chose to defend his/her humility by leaving a comment on this video. Read the Reason for God by Tim Keller and/or Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.
Wow, the universe was designed with humans in mind? And this man knows the purpose of the universe? It’s a good thing we have people to tell us. There could be no possibility of self-deception here. It’s not as though humans prefer comforting lies to the truth and will accept any answer, however bad, when good ones are not forthcoming.
He sounds like the painter from PBS in the late 1970s crossed with Mr Rogers; but his information makes sense. Find a child without parents – i.e find a child who’s parents don’t want them; who don’t wish to or can’t take care of them, and help them find parents who will care for them. His talk about adoption being before the universe etc sounds a bit trippy but maybe that’s just how he rolls.
The first option should be that they stay with their extended families. Then they would not lose their identities, culture, families, medical histories, etc.
What about the children who have lost their parents (from illness, wars…) ?
This sounds like nonsense to me. Find a baby with no mum and dad? None such exists! Adoption takes babies from their mum and dad, brothers and sisters and grandparents; adoption desecrates the sacred bond between mother and child; adoption destroys families; adoption damages the emotional well-being of both baby and mother. Please, consider other sources of information before deciding to take someone else’s child to raise as your own. Prospective adoptive parents, you need wisdom AND love.
Amen!
Im only 20 years old, but God has already told me that i will adopt. It is something that is on my heart and in my prayers, God bless this message!
Whoa.
We can fellowship with God in adoption! What an awesome blessing.
That’s it. I’m going to adopt.
Excuse me, I was quick to judge. But your comparison with Kasparov and the word “play” sounded unfitting to me to describe what Piper says. I guess that they would fit in the vocabulary of a “massive fan” (fanatic), but they would have no room in that of a disciple of Jesus. But I find I acted like a Piper fan too, like he needed someone to defend him. So I won’t do it any more.
Such gracious words and encouraging words. Do you practice those? I don’t know where your bile comes from, but please vent it somewhere else. I am a massive Piper fan, and I thought I would pay him a heartfelt and honest compliment. I am a father, husband and brother who is attempting to pursue the Faith with integrity. So no, I have not adopted, but who made you my judge?
amen , that was beautifully explained thanks
He did not play this. He practiced it. He did something that most churchgoers today don’t even consider – adopting a child. Neither did you, I guess.
